Recorded over the space of one night, a lot of questionably sourced chicken and 4 tinnies each. The Lonesome Crowded West Midlands is the long awaited first release from newly formed Birmingham DIY label Not Cool DIY. Featuring the first collaboration between Nottingham born George Gadd and Birmingham based Sarah Carey, Modest Mates culminates the twos mutual love over Modest Mouse’s seminal effort ‘The Lonesome Crowded West’. After both recording studio efforts, the pair decided to strip everything back for this collaboration and use a solitary SM57 microphone for recording, the end result can be heard in this cosy bedroom recording.

Sarah Carey is supporting Koji and The City On Film at The Oobleck in Birmingham on 20/2/15. Tickets are available from the Not Cool DIY Bigcartel.

George Gadd will play whatever gig for food and beer.
